Additionally
We can formalise your mediation agreements, so you can then make them legally binding once sealed by the Family Court of Australia (Consent Orders). Other mediation organisations typically provide just not legally binding heads of agreement and you need to instruct a Solicitor to make them legally binding. We charge just $1,600 incl GST fee for that work.
The Family Law Act 1975 requires that parents that are not in agreement about their child’s parenting arrangements must attend mediation. They must also obtain a Certificate of Attendance (Section 60i Certificate) before an Application for a parenting Order, can be made to the court.
Section 60i Certificates

The types of section 60i certificates, which may be issued by Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners are:

  • Certificate A If there was a refusal to attend;
  • Certificate B If the Practitioner considered the matter inappropriate for Family Dispute Resolution;
  • Certificate C If a genuine attempt was made to resolve the dispute.
  • Certificate D If a genuine attempt was not made to resolve the dispute.
  • Certificate E If the Practitioner considered the matter unable to continue through Family Dispute Resolution.
When filing an Application, the court requires that a copy of the Section 60i Certificate be filed with the court Application. This is unless the court is satisfied that an exemption applies. There are very limited reasons why a Court would accept an Application for filing, without a Section 60i certificate.
